So, Aidan, hopefully you know that y = x² is a parabola. What do the other numbers do to our parabola?

 

The negative turns our parabola upside down.

 

The + 3 inside the parentheses moves our parabola 3 to the left, opposite the sign.

 

The - 3 outside the parentheses moves our parabola down 3, in the same direction as the sign.

 

Soooooo, we have an upside down parabola with a vertex at (-3, -3).
