Steve runde is buying a farm and needs to determine the hight of a silo on the farm. Steve, who's is 6ft tall, notices that when his shadow is 9ft long, the shadow of the silo is 105 ft long. How tall is the silo

you need to set up a proportion using Steve's height and shadow in relation to the silo's height and shadow. 

 

6 ft steve              =  x ft tall silo

9 ft steve shadow       105 ft silo shadow

 

now you can cross multiply and divide to solve for x.

 

6(105) = 9x

630 = 9x

70 = x

 

The silo is 70 ft tall.
