Sorry to keep you up. I just saw this.
In both cases, if you solve for y, you get a function in x. That's the equation of a line - in this case in slope-intercept form. So they're both linear.
I will do one as an example.
2x + 3y =7 (this, by the way, is the equation of a line in standard form)
3y = -2x + 7
y = (-2/3)x + (7/3)
slope-intercept form. Sleep well!
