I need help with this phyics homework

Question

a car is submerged in 8.0 feet of water. assuming the area of one door(including window) is 10.0 ft^2. what is the pressure on the door?

Hey Marie -- 1atm is about 15psi or about 30 ft of water ... 8ft underwater is about 1/4 atm

 

... pressure is about 4psi ... door area is 1440 sq.in. ==> ~ 6000lb (3 tons) on door!! :)
