Whats the inverse of x+2y+3=0?

I was having hard times figuring out how to work this question out and I was wondering if you can show me step by step so I can get a understanding

Hi Jawuan.

 

To find the inverse of a function y = f(x), there are two steps.

 

1st:  swap all x's and y's

2nd:  solve for y.   This new "y" is your inverse function.

 

 

x + 2y+3 = 0

 

swap x's and y's:  y + 2x + 3 = 0

 

now solve for y:  y = -2x - 3  <---- this is your inverse
