the height h meters of an infield fly ball t seconds after being hit is modeled by the quadratic relation

                                             

H= -5(t+0.1)(t-3.5)

 

a) how long is the ball in the air 

 

b) what was the height of the ball when it was first hit ? 

 

c) what is the mac height of the ball

I will give you some hints on these.

 

a) Set H = 0 and solve for t. One answer will be negative, the other positive. It's the positive number you want.

b) Set t=0 and evaluate.

c) Multiply the equation out and find the vertex of the parabola. The maximum height is the height at the first coordinate.
