Which carpet is more or less expensive?

The smiths will be carpeting a room in their house. in one store, they see a carpet they like that costs $35 per square yard. Another store has a similar carpet for #3.95 per square foot. Is this more or less expensive than the carpet at the first store?

There are 9 square feet in a square yard.

Based on this we need to cover the $35/sq yd to sq feet or the $3.95/sq ft to sq yards.

 

I'll do the first one.

 

$35 / 9 = $3.89/sq ft

 

The the $35/sq yard is a better deal.  It is less expensive.
