Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
x^2 +3x + x^2 -3x = 2
2x^2 =2
x^2 = 1
x = +1 or -1
x/(x-3) + x/(x+3) = 2/(x^2 -9)
1/-2 +1/4 = 2/-8
-1/4=-1/4
try x=-1
-1/-4 +1/2 = 2/-8
3/4 doesn't = -1/4
when multiplying by a term with a variable, you may introduce an extraneous solution, a solution not in the original equation
