If each person eats 1/3 of a pizza, then each pizza will feed 3 people. If we have 6 whole pizzas and each one feeds 3 people, then we will be able to feed 18 people.
(1/3) pizza = 1 person
==> multiply both sides by 3 so we have 1 pizza on the left
1 pizza = 3 people
==> multiply both sides by 6 to get 6 pizzas on the left
==> multiply both sides by 3 so we have 1 pizza on the left
1 pizza = 3 people
==> multiply both sides by 6 to get 6 pizzas on the left
6 pizzas = 18 people
Hope that helps :D

16 people
1 pizza = 8 slices
6 pizzas x 8 slices = 48 slices total
if 9 slices feed 3 people (3 slices X 3 people) then 48 divided by 3 = 16

This is incorrect. The mistake is in the last line. If there were 8 slices per pizza, then each person would eat 8/3 pieces.
We are not told how many pieces each pizza is cut into but if you want to think about slices then choose a number that is divisible by 3 since each person eats 1/3 of a pizza.
If we cut the pizza into 3 slices then everybody eats 1 slice. If we cut the pizza into 9 slices, then everybody eats 3 slices. etc.
1 pizza = 3 slices
6 pizzas = 18 slices with one slice per person... 18 people eat pizza
