(3/[x-2])+(5/x)=(4/x)
(3/[x-2])=(4/x)-(5/x)
(3/[x-2])=(-1/x)
cross multiply
3*x=-1*(x-2)
3x=-x+2
3x+x=2
4x=2
x=2/4
x=1/2
(keep in mind that you have an equation, you are solving for x, and the denominators cannot be equal to 0)
(that said, 2 and 0 can't be solutions but we got 1/2 anyway !!)
