Baked goods

The basketball team sells brownies for $1.50 and rice krispies for $1.00. They sell 309 goodies in all. How much of each did they sell? I'm confused on how to make the equations.

It says they wanted to make back $350 that they spent on posters. Would that count as the total income?

Yep, now let b = # of pkgs of brownies sold & k = # of krispie pkgs sold.

$350 = 1.5b + 1k    ⇐ equation says total income, coming from b pkgs @ 1.5 $ each + k pkgs @ $1
b+k = 309.             ⇐ equation says  total # of packages sold

Now you have a system of 2 unknowns & 2 equations & I know you can sold that.
