A blouse that regularly sells for $28.50 is on sale for one-third off. What is the sale price of the dress?

If it's on sale for one third OFF, then the price that you pay will be the other 2/3 of the original "List" price.

 

(2/3)(28.50) = $19

 

LESSON: one third off means 2/3 ON!  (You pay two thirds of orig. price)
