You have $59.95 in your wallet, and you want to buy some new CD's. If the CD's are $11.99 each, what number of CD's, x, can you buy?

For this question I have to write and solve an inequality. This is off of my study guide, and I am not very good at it. Can somebody please show me the steps of how to write and solve this inequality? Thank you!

The number of CD's times the cost of each CD must be less than or equal to what you have in your wallet.

 

So, 11.99X < or _ 59.95 . . the line should be directly under the "less than" sign.

 

Now solve this as you solve any algebraic equation. . . If there is a remainder, you would have to disregard the remainder because you can't buy a piece of a CD.  If it's an integer, that's your answer.
