y=(1/4)(4x+8)

y=^4x/₄+⁸/₄...distribute "1/4" to each term

                      in the parentheses

y=x+2...........Eq1, simplify

 

The Standard Form Equation is written as...

          Ax+By=C where...

"A" (must be a positive integer) is the coefficient of "x", "B" is the coefficient of "y", and "C" is a constant.

 

Let's rewrite our Eq1 from above in Standard Form...

     y=x+2.......Eq1

-x+y=x-x+2...subtract "x", both sides

-x+y=2..........simplify

  x-y=-2.........multiply both sides by (-1), "A" must 

                      be a positive integer

 

Now, do you see it resembles the Standard Form Equation?...

x-y=-2...means...1x-1y=-2...means Ax+By=C

"A" is the coefficient of "x" = 1

"B" is the coefficient of "y" = -1

"C" is the constant = -2

 

The Standard Form is x-y=-2.
