How old are they now

Question

kevinnis three times as old as Bob. Three years ago the sum of their age was 26. How old is each now?

If Bob was B years old three years ago, then he is (B+3)

Kevin is 3(B +3) years old now and was 3(B+3)-3 years old three years ago

Bob's age three years ago + Kevin's age three years ago =26

                    B                  +             3(B+3)-3                =26

                    B                  +             3B +6                     =26

                                                                               4B   =20

B=5

Now B + 3 = 8 and 3(B+3)=24

Kevin is 24 years old and Bob is 8 years old
