What is the pumping capacity of each.

Question

When three pumps,A,B and C, are running together, they can pump 3700 gal per hour. When only A and B are running 2300 gal per hour can be pumped. When only A and C are running, 2300 gal per hour can be pumped. What is the pumping capacity of each.

Answer 1

A + B + C = 3700

A + B = 2300 so C = 3700 - 2300 = 1400

A + C = 2300 so A = 2300 - 1400 = 900

B = 3700 - 1400 - 900 = 1400

 

 

Answer 2

A + B + C = 3700

A + B        = 2300

A        + C = 2300
