Hi Michael.
Ratios are basically similar. Imagine a bucket of apples. All the apples are similar but not identical. Some apples are slightly larger or smaller than others.
Now imagine a BIGGER bucket of apples. It obviously holds more apples right?
Now imagine an even BIGGER bucket of apples. Even more apples.
Well - the amount of apples that is going into each bucket is related to how much bigger each bucket is. So as the buckets increase in size more apples will fit in it.
So imagine you have a bucket with a size of 5 and it holds 3 apples. What size of bucket do you need to hold 9 apples?
Well 9 is 3 times larger than 3 so we need a bucket 3 times larger than 5.
So....
3 is to 5 as 9 is to ???
or
3:5 as 9:???
3/5 = 9/15
