Two  companies sell and deliver sand and used as base for building patios.company A charges $10 cubic yard and a flat $30 delivery fee for any amount of sand up to 16 cubic yards.company B charges $8 a cubic yard and a flat $36 delivery fee for any amount of sand up to 16 cubic yards. When will both companies charge the same amount?

Equation:

 

30 + 10x = 36 + 8x

 

Solving for x:

 

Subtract 30 from both sides:

 

10x = 6 + 8x

 

Subtract 8x from both sides:

 

2x = 6

 

Divide both sides by 2:

 

x = 3
