16 oz can sells for a 1.09 and a 32 oz can for 1.89 which is the better buy?

Find the unit price.  This is the price for 1 ounce.  We go with the less price for 1 ounce.

 

First unit price:

 

1.09 / 16 oz = 0.07 per oz

 

 

Second unit price:

 

1.89 / 32 oz = 0.06 per oz

 

 

The second is the better buy.  It is one cent less than the first unit price.
