So, if she gave 1/2 to someone and 1/4 to someone else, you should easily recognize that she's given away 3/4 of her cards. This means she only has 1/4 of her cards left, right?

 

If 1/4 of her cards is 75, and we know that she started with 4/4 of her cards, we multiply 75(4) = 300.

 

She started with 300 cards.

 

Let's check. 1/2 of 300 is 150. 1/4 of 300 is 75. If she gave away 225 cards, she has 75 left, which is 1/4 of 300.
