If the equation is of 1st degree, such that the highest exponent value of x is 1, then it is a line.
If the equation of 2nd degree, such that the highest exponent value of x is 2, then it is a parabola or quadratic.
If the equation of degree greater than 2, then is it a continuous curve.
If the equation has a numerator and denominator, then it is a rational equation. It is not continuous because of the asymptotes.
