Hi Cortnee, is this what you are looking for?
First expression:
(x + 3) * (2x2 - 3x + 6)
Use the distributive property twice, once using the x and once using the 3:
Distribute the x:
x * 2x2 - x * 3x + x * 6
2x3 - 3x2 + 6x <== Distribution of x
Distribute the 3:
3 * 2x2 - 3 * 3x + 3 * 6
6x2 - 9x + 18 <== Distribution of 3
Combine the values from the distribution of the x and 3:
2x3 + 3x2 - 3x + 18
Second Expression:
(x + 5)2 * x
First, multiply (x + 5) * (x + 5):
(x + 5) * (x + 5) using FOIL:
F = x2
O = 5x
I = 5x
l = 25
Combine terms:
x2 + 10x + 25
Now multiply the expression x2 + 10x + 25 by x giving:
x3 + 10x2 + 25x
