what are the coefficients in the expression 12x^2+3x^2-8x+10

the ^ with a number next to it means that the number is an exponent

You forgot about the constant term, which is Cx0, where C is the coefficient.  The coefficient of that term is 10.

Actually it is what you call it - the constant term. To be groaningly exact, I might have said a coefficient is a multiplier of a variable with a non-zero exponent.
