A reservoir, when full, contained 2 x 10 litres of water

(a) During a dry summer, the volume of water in the reservoir was reduced by 5 x 107 litres each day until it was empty. How many days supply did the reservoir hold when full ?

(b) Find the volume of water in the reservoir when it was giving your answer in standard form.

Emma, this makes no sense.  Check the statement of your problem  You have many times the capacity of the reservoir emptying each day more than its capacity
