Maddie, I assume the question is "What is Gina's rate of making beaded brackets per hour?" If that is the case, then let's look at what we have:
Gina finishes 2/3 of a bracket in 3/4 of an hour.
So to figure out how many brackets (or parts of a bracket) she would complete in an hour, first we have to get to an hour, and we do that by multiplying 3/4 of an hour by its reciprocal (or multiplicative inverse), which 4/3:
3/4 x 4/3 = 12/12 = 1
However, since we are multiplying the time by 4/3, we also have to multiply the amount of brackets by 4/3:
2/3 x 4/3 = 8/9.
So Gina's rate is 8/9 of beaded bracket per hour.
P.S. If you want to figure out how long it takes Gina to finish one bracket, you follow a similar process:
Since the problem tells us how long it takes Gina to finish 2/3 of a bracket, we have to multiply by the reciprocal, 3/2, to get 1 bracket:
2/3 x 3/2 = 6/6 = 1
Then we have to multiply the time by the same amount:
3/4 x 3/2 = 9/8.
So Gina finishes one bracket in 9/8 of an hour (or 1 and 1/8 hour).
