There are 11 walnut trees and 26 popular trees currently in the park. Tom and I will each plant more walnut trees today. Altogether when we're finished it'll be 87 walnut trees in the park.  How many trees did Tom and I plant today?

If you started with 11 walnut trees, and you ended up with 87 walnut trees, you need to subtract to figure out how many trees were planted today.

 

The information about the other trees, which may be popular but were really poplar, is there just to confuse you.
