There is a fair red die 1-6 and a fair blue die 1-6. You roll both dice. What is the likelihood that at least one of these two things will happen? The blue die lands on a 1 or a 2; the red die lands on a 6.

Let A be the event blue die 1 or 2. B the event red is 6.

 

Use the formula P(A∪B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A∩B)

 

The event you are looking at is A∪B.
