To "solve" means to find an expression (often it is a number) that is equal to the indicated variable. So, for example, to solve for T given D=RT, we get T=D/R.
A. V= (1/3)(3.14)r2h (note: I'm assuming volume of a cone;
if there really isn't an r in the equation, you'll know what to do)
(1/3)(3.14)r2h = V (just re-writing equation)
(3.14)r2h = 3V (multiply both sides by 3)
h = 3V/((3.14)r2) (divide both sides by (3.14)r2
B. First, get a common denominator, then move everything but 'a' term to the other side, then divide by the coefficient to get just a single 'a'. It will be a function of S, b, and c.
