Pool1: $182.00 for 28 lessons

Pool 2: $187.50 for 30 lessons

Pool 3: $172.50 for 25 lessons

Order the unit cost from least to greatest. which pool offers the best deal per lesson?

 

Part B

If each pool offers 3 free classes, find the new unit cost. Round each price to the nearest cent. Which pool is the better buy now? Explain your answer

For Part A, you divide the price by how many lessons it gives. 

$182/28 lessons=$6.50 per lesson Pool 1

187.50/30=$6.25 per lesson Pool 2

172.50/25=$6.90 Pool 3

 

Least to greatest:

Pool 2

Pool 1

Pool 3

 

Best deal: Pool 2

 

For Part B:

You add 3 to the lessons

 

Pool 1: $182/(28+3)=$5.87 per lesson

Pool 2: 187.50/33=$5.68 per lesson

Pool 3: 172.50/28=$6.16 per lesson

 

Better buy is still Pool 2 because the variable that was added was constant (the same) in all three pools.
