Drop means to fall or go down, so whenever the temperature drops by a certain amount you need to subtract that amount from the previous temperature  

 

At 6 a.m. the temperature is 32 degrees

 

At the first recording at 8 a.m. the temperature is 32 - 3 = 29 degrees  

 

At the second recording the temperature is 29 - 5 = 24 degrees  

 

At the third and final recording the temperature is 24 - 5 = 19 degrees
