For Reference:
Monomial: A polynomial consisting of only one term is called a monomial. For Example, 5x3y4, 3x2yz, are monomials.
Binomial: A polynomial consisting of two terms is called a binomial. For Example, 3x - 4y, 7x3 – 5xy2z3 are binomials.
Trinomial: A polynomial consisting of three terms is called a trinomial. For example, 2x2 + 5x – 2, 3x – 7y + 3z, x3 – 3xy -4x3z5 are trinomials.
Multinomial: Algebraic expression involving more than one term is called a multinomial.

Just an observation: All you need to do is learn the vocabulary and to count the number of terms.
A term may be either a constant, the product of a coefficient and a variable, or the product of two variables.
Expressions are made up of one or more terms. In expressions, terms are added and subtracted. In terms, factors are multiplied or divided.
Then, there's that "=" which means that you are building and equation (not an inequality).
