According to the ASCAP website (http://www.ascap.com/members/payment/royalties.aspx) the formula for calculating royalty payments is: CREDITS X SHARE X CREDIT VALUE = $ ROYALTY Substituting we find: Total Credits x .5 x $3.50 = $7000 or, stated differently: Total Credits = $7000/(.5 x $3.50) Since (.5 x $3.50) equals 1.75 the answer is: Total Credits = $4,000
