Change the negative sign in front of 14x to +. The correct simplified version of the original expression is then -7x2 + 16x - 8.
−7x(x− 2) + 2(x− 4)
-7x*x - (-7x)*2 + 2*x - 2*4
-7x2 + 14x + 2x - 8 (note that you got the sign wrong on the 14x)
-7x2 + 16x - 8
