- Start by distributing the 5 making it 9+4k=5k+5+3k which can then be simplified to 9+4k=8k+5.
- Now you can subtract the 4k from both sides making it 9=4k+5.
- Then you would subtract the 5 from both sides making it 4=4k.
- So then the answer would come from dividing both sides by 4 making k=1.
- Substituting the 1 back into the equation for k to checking your answer will make 13=13.
