Hello,

Here is a simple solution. Let's assume that the cost of the sandwich is

**x**and cost of the drink is**y**. The following system of two linear equations will provide a solution for both unknown variables x and y:x+y=4.25

x-y=1.75

This can be easily solved either manually, or using online System of Linear Equations Solver (http://examn8.com/SystemOfEquations.aspx)

The answer is:

**x= 3 (cost of the sandwich)**

**y=1.25 (cost of the drink)**

Hope this will help.
