How many trips will Jaime need to make

Jaime wants to get a fox, a goose and a bag of grain safely across the river in a boat. He can only take on at a time in the boat.  if left alone together, the goose would eat the grain and the fox would eat the goose.

He takes the  goose first 

 

He then returns and gets the fox

 

When he drops off the fox he takes the goose with him

 

He then leaves the goose and takes the grain

 

He drops off the grain

 

Then he goes back to get the goose

 

Once he has the goose on the other side he is finished
