First, we need to know the difference between living organisms and inanimate objects. Living organisms are organisms that carry out their life functions. Inanimate objects are physical things that do not move on their own and need the influence of a medium to produce their motion.
Unlike inanimate objects, living organism can respond to environment stimuli (due to the use of their senses), they can evolve (by means of reproduction), maintain homeostasis (warm-blooded organisms such as human beings can adapt to changes in the environment), and contain DNA (every cellular structure contains this).
An inanimate object such as a basketball do not have all of these traits, except for DNA. Therefore,
