To determine the domain, the set of x values that will make the function, g(x) = 8x - 4/x + 1, true, examine each term. 

1. 0, zero, will make the second term undefined
2. Therefore, the function cannot be defined for x=0, the domain is

 

(-∞,0) U (0,∞).           In interval form.

Or, Domain={x|xεℜ, and x≠0}.   In set builder notation.
