2n is twice the smaller

 

n + 2 + 2n is the larger plus twice the small

 

n + 2 + 2n = 62                combine like terms

3n + 2 = 62                       subtract 2 form both sides

3n = 60                             divide both sides by 3

n = 20

 

The small number is 20 and the larger is 22.
