The distance formula for distance between two points
(x1,y1), (x2,y2) is...
d = √[(x2-x1)2+(y2-y1)2]
for distance from (12,4) to (3,-5)
d=√[(3-12)2+(-5-4)2]
= √[(-9)2+(-9)2]
= √(81+81)
= √[81(2)]
=9√2

I see that you changed the points in the written problem from (12,4), (3,-5) to (-2,4), (3,5)
Work the problem the same way:
D = √(3-(-2))2+(5-4)2) = √(3+4+1) = √8 = √22(2) = 2√2
