One integer is 4 more than another. Their product is 32. Find the integers.

I suck at word problems.

factor 32 into 2*2*2*2*2 and group the factors so that one factor is 4 more than the other
(2*2*2)*(2*2)=8*4

Yes, "product" means you multiply. It looks like you have the right answer.

Louis,

If one integer is 4 more than another, then the two integers must have a difference of 4.  When you multiply these two integers, the result will be 32.

4 and 8 works.  This is because 8 is 4 more than 4.

4 × 8 = 32.

The conditions are satisfied.

If you use algebraic applications, you will obtain these values.

Alfredo,

You will be correct that your integers will be 4 and 8.  Another possibility that David showed in his work is -4 and -8.  This is because the distance between them is 4.  If you multiply two negatives, you get a positive.  The product remains to be 32.

You will do excellent in math.  Keep up the good work!  :)

Alfredo,

Michael J. gave some important, encouraging words. "You ... work!" (PLZ re-read them).

Students, workers, ..., and even teachers and tutors do much better work when they believe they can.  Real statistical studies have showed that a student does better on a test when there is a manageable amount of nervousness and a large amount of confidence.  Take Michael's advice and "do excellent in math."

Oh ...  p.s.:
One more statement that even resembles "I suck at word problems" and I'll post ten pages of "* * * *" in answer to your question until WyzAnt deletes it.
