What does 3x+2x equal?

I want to know what 3x+2x equals so I can do the rest of my problems the same way

the rule is you can add like terms.

so it is 5x

 

you cannot add x's and y's (not like terms) or x^2 and x, 

 

5a + 3b + 2c + d -- nothing combines 

 

3x +2x + x =  6 x (1+2+3)
