is there a personal cd player that I can use (for audio books) that plugs into wall outlet instead of batteries?

I am a senior who is not tech sophisticated.  I want to listen to audio books while in bed and not  be concerned about batteries.  Is there such an item or am I  revealing that  am a dinosaur?

I had one of that kind that I used for my son playing CD audio books for him. You may look at websites of stores like RadioShack and Circuit city near your residence and then visit to look at their collection to educate yourself with available products based on your needs and budget. There is only so much information available on-line. If you know exactly what you need then Amazon/e-bay and similar options might be more beneficial.

Actually, the first CD players were integrated into stereo equipment or computers (both data and audio).  The battery-powered portable ones are now also fading in popularity in favor of mp3 players of various kinds.

 

You may 'google' (or Bing search) "electric CD players"  (as opposed to batter-powered).  I found some on Amazon (I'm an Amazon Prime member and they often have excellent prices).

 

Now, regardless of age or experience, questions are good ("the only stupid question is the one that isn't asked") and obviously, dinosaurs didn't  learn enough to survive destruction.
