There are 25 buildings on Elm Street. FO these 25 buildings 10 have fewer than 6 rooms,10 have more than 7 rooms and 4 have more than 8 rooms. What is the total number of buildings on Elm street that have 6,7,8 rooms?

Total houses = 25

Lets find the number of houses outside the range we care about, as in the houses with fewer than 6 rooms and those with more than 8 rooms.

 

<6 rooms = 10 

 

>8 rooms = 4

 

Total houses outside range = 14

 

Number of houses inside range = 25 - 14 = 11

 

And just for fun, 6 houses have 8 rooms >7 rooms = 10, >8 rooms = 4 so 10 - 4 = 6.
