Okay... so you have the equation
x2 - 64x = 0
Since both x2 and -64x both have an x in common.. you can factor out x; so you will have
x(x-64) = 0
Now, using the multiplicative property of 0.... either
x = 0 or x - 64 = 0, because for a product of two numbers to equal 0, one or both terms must equal 0. Solving for x, we get
x = 0 or x = 64
