2. The 4 corners of a rectangular cover plate, 500 mm by 300 mm, are rounded to form sectors each with a radius of 25 mm. Determine the final area of the plate:

The area of the original plate is 500 x 300 mm², or 150000 mm²

Together the four sectors add up to a circle with radius 25 mm

The area of the circle is π(25)² mm², or approximately 196.349541 mm²

 

The final area of the plate is approximately 150000 - 196.349541 mm², or approximately 149803.65 mm²
