If you have a ratio of 11:9, you can think of it as if one of the two has 11 parts, the other one 9 parts of the whole.
All parts together are 11+9=20 parts.
So, the whole amount of $13,000 would equal 20 parts.

Now, calculate how much one part would be, and then multiply to get Rob's amount (9 parts) and Chuck's amount (11 parts).

Sorry, I was wrong: Rob's amount is 11 parts, and Chuck's is 9 parts.

so it would be 22,000 *11 and 18,000*9

No, not quite...

What you are supposed to divide, is the amount of $13,000
If $13,000 equals 20 parts, then 1 part = 13,000:20 = $650

This is the amount you have to multiply by 11 for Rob, and by 9 for Chuck.
