y = 5x + 2
This is the equation of a line in what is known as "slope intercept form."
That form is y = mx + b where m is the slope of the line and b is the y-intercept
This is the equation of a line in what is known as "slope intercept form."
That form is y = mx + b where m is the slope of the line and b is the y-intercept
The y -intercept is the point where the graph of the line crosses the y-axis at (0,b)
Thus, y=5x+2 is a line with slope m=5 and y-intercept at (0,2)
Thus, y=5x+2 is a line with slope m=5 and y-intercept at (0,2)
You can graph the line by plotting 2 or more points and connecting them to form a straight line
We have (0,2) and need one more point to draw the line...
With a slope of 5 which is rise/run we can go right one unit and up 5 from (0,2) giving (1,7)
We could also go left 1 digit and down 5 giving the point (-1,-3)
So we have 3 points already we can use... (0,2), (1,7), (-1,-3)...
Plot those, connect them in a straight line and the graph is done

If you are looking for points on this line, we can use the slope and the y-intercept of the equation. The slope is the distance of the y coordinates between two points over the distance of the x coordinate between two points. The y-intercept is the point on the y-axis and has an x coordinate of 0.
The first point will be easy to find because this will be the y-intercept.
Point 1 = (0, 2)
We use the slope and this point to find the next point. Move 1 unit to the right, then move 5 units up from the y-intercept. This is a positive slope.
Point 2 = (1, 7)
Keep repeating this step using the preceding point to get the other point. When you connect these points, you will get a straight line.
