The key to this type of word problem is to add consistent units.  We want add the dollars for ice cream cones to the dollars for sundaes.  And dollars are given by:  

           ($ / item)*(number of items)       [ items cancel out ]

 

So, let x be the number of ice cream cones sold.  That makes (148-x) the number of sundaes sold.

 

The total money is:     $1.80*x  + $3.30*(148-x) = $360.90

 

O.K., solve for x.   (And, since they asked, find 148-x also).
