Does there have to be 4 steps?
Synde H.
asked 08/05/13List the four steps and illustrate each step by either explaining why it is not applicable or by showing how you would do that step as you solve one of the equations below:
10x – 13 = 0
1/2x + 3 = 6
5x + 5 = 2x + 3

1) state problem 10x - 13 = 0
2) add 13 to both sides 10x = 13
3) divide both side by 10 x = 13/10
4) simplify answer 1 3/10
_________________________________________________
1) 1/2x + 3 = 6
2) subtract 3 from both sides 1/2x = 3
3) divide both sides by 1/2 (or multiply both sides by 2) x = 6
4) simplfy x = 6
_______________________________________________________
1) 5x + 5 = 2x + 3
2) subtract 5 from both sides 5x = 2x - 2
3) subtract 2x from both sides 3x = -2
4) divide both sides by three x = -2/3
5) simplify x = -2/3
